Character: Yuuko Ichihara
Race/Class: Guardian angel, with a weakness to Gluttony.

Power and weapon: Yuuko has a silver staff in a the shape of a winged half moon (think TRC!Yukito’s moon staff), used mainly as a means to summon her wide range of magical techniques, with special focus on elemental magic. Being a Guardian angel, she will only rarely use said techniques in the war against demons, though she will more often than not employ her powers in as many daily aspects of her life among humans as possible. She can also see deep into the hearts of humans, to the point of having the ability to tell any wishes or strong desires they might have.

Personality: Yuuko's personality is full of quirks, and her moods will often change drastically without previous notice. Whenever she's seriously working, she is highly somber, almost cryptic to an extent, and very professional-like. Her immense wisdom comes from her long years, and when there’s real need for it, she is perfectly capable of giving out good advice.

In spite of that, Yuuko can be ultimately bossy, annoying and a huge tease, to the point of coming off as pretty childish and spoiled – which comes as no surprise, seeing as she rarely receives any punishment for her daring maneuvers. She is very fun-loving and eccentric, and also seems to genuinely try to enjoy life, even tough she has a heavy burden to carry. She is often up to mischief, and has a high liking for human food, especially alcohol.

Above all else, she is very kind, and owns a heart of gold. She never loses her sense of self-restraint, and for that, she will sometimes hurt for not being able to help more than she is allowed. She also has a motherly side, though only rarely it will be seen; in truth, she is quite a softy, but that does not mean she wants anyone to realize that.

Background: Born as an angel, Yuuko has been around for over a millennium, enough to have witnessed the rise and fall of various empires and civilizations in the human world, as well as several clashes of human societies with diverging interests and the raging war that naturally came as a result. They were a constant reminder of why she had such a deep dislike for battling, and also why she loved her job as a Guardian so much; thanks to that, her involvement with the never-ending war between angels and the demon race was kept to a minimum.

Her overall demeanor and working methods are rather unorthodox, so to speak. While most Guardian angels will do their jobs from the Heavens, Yuuko prefers to mingle with humans and learn more about their lives from a closer look, under the claim that having a better knowledge of the human nature makes her job much easier to effectively perform. While it isn’t quite a lie, the whole truth is that she has taken a liking to the Earth and its residents, including all the blessings they have been given, from the smallest pleasures to the greatest of their gifts: free will.

Having been a pioneer angel to infiltrate herself in the human world, Yuuko has earned quite a few frowns and scolding lectures from her fellow siblings in Heaven, especially whenever she indulged in her favorite pastime – telling the young Guardians-in-training all about the Earth and its many wonders, frequently offering her assistance in giving them a tour. Somehow, she always managed to avoid any serious punishment, though; eccentric as she was, she invariably got the job done, keeping her assigned protégées as safe as her limited range of interference allowed.

Once the demon population further spread throughout the Earth, the heavenly authorities decided to follow suit and send out a larger number of angels to live among humans. This change in strategy made Yuuko go from a rebel figure to something of a role model, and the one person that the newer angels-in-disguise came to for advice concerning human society. She soon earned the right to be the head of the Guardian angels on Earth, and though she now works more as a mentor to them, she eventually gets personally assigned to a few special cases. Needless to say, her new position did not help her bossy antics at all.

As the one angel to have been living on Earth the longest, Yuuko has developed an extra ability that the other Guardians do not possess; she can see into the hearts of humans and tell the thing they want the most, from momentary wishes to their deepest desires. This probably hails from her habit to build a close relationship with her protégées and other people she might have any regular contact with, and while she’s not sure whether this, too, is a part of God’s plan or not, she doesn’t exactly dislike this power of hers. However, her prolonged time on Earth also came with a price and, along with her ability to see people’s wishes, she has grown a desire of her own.
